Do you think that the best coffee machines are expensive?

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

This is probably more of a marketing ploy than anything else. How the marketeers would want you to believe that the more expensive the item, the better it is.

But, this metric would be flaw when used to identify the best coffee brewers. Yes, the higher priced model has more features and promises to make the coffee brewing process as simple as possible, however, there is one variable that is missing.

And that is you! Your taste profile and your lifestyle constitute to what are best coffee makers. Imagine, staying in a 80 square feet house with hardly any space for your microwave oven, and people all says that Saeco is a great coffee machine, but do you have the space for it?

Most so called Best Coffee Makers have a higher price bracket, because they are reviewed or even endorsed by “coffee gurus”, but do note that these are other people’s review and not yours! Ultimately, the coffee machine should have a direct fit with your lifestle, because it would be the coffee that goes through the morning, afternoon and evening with you…

Personally, I would take the stand that higher pricing does not equate to best coffee machines. In fact, for a person that lives in a 80 square feet house, the best Saeco fully automatic machine would cause more hindrance than help in brewing coffee.

It would be probably a Senseo that is less than one hundred dollars that is small and easy to use that would add more value to the guy with the 80 square feet house. It is small enough to fit into the house, and he does not have to “move around” with those tamping or dosing, he simply need to insert a pod and press a button for his coffee.

Space and area to allocate to the coffee maker is just an example of how one should choose their best coffee maker according to their lifestyle.

Then, there is the taste profile that we have not touch on, let’s say you are someone that always have a regular coffee, and love it, buying a very sophisticated espresso machine might not make much sense.

This is my take folks: -higher pricing coffee maker does not necessarily meant the best coffee makers. The best coffee machine should be something that have an exact match with your lifestyle, it should simplified your life. I make this statement, because, I have seen so many friends buying espresso machine trying to be the next “coffee experts”, only to discover that these machine are too difficult to use -what a waste of money and effort!

Frances Woos Cyclists To The Stunning Val De Loire

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The central part of the Loire Valley was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000 for its cultural landscape and historic towns and villages. In 2005, France suffering from a minor slump in American tourism, introduced the “Loire à Vélo” biking program, designed to allow travellers to explore the 880 kilometers of breathtaking cycling trails and roads that wind along Europe’s last wild river past mysterious troglodyte homes (limestone caves), vineyards, picturesque french villages, ancient churches and monasteries. When the whole trail is eventually completed in a few years, it will stretch around 500 miles from St.-Brevin-les-Pins in the Atlantic region to Cuffy in the Cher region, near Sancerre.

Along the lower reaches of the Loire River the hunting grounds and lodges of the kings and noblemen of the 15th to 18th centuries grew into extraordinarily ornate chateaux, a short trip for them from Paris and a world away from the lives of their subjects.

The countryside is a mix of green valleys, vineyards, leafy forests, sunflower fields and charming villages, and is ideal for undemanding cycling. The routes move between the Loire and Cher rivers, and visit some of the prettiest chateaux along the way.

Leonardo Da Vinci’s home, the Chateau du Clos-Luce where he spent the last three years of his life, is located within walking distance of Amboise. In fact King Francois 1st had an underground tunnel built so that he could go and visit his good friend without having to mix with his subjects. Here you can tour his sitting rooms, chambers, and kitchen. There is a working museum with over 40 models of some of his incredible inventions.

Fairs, festivals, pageants and concerts fill the Loire calendar from spring to autumn. Sound and light spectaculars at Amboise, Chenonceau, Blois, Valençay and Azay-le-Rideau bring royal chateau history and tradition to life.

Gold – Not Just For Jewelry

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

What is it about gold jewelry?Gold – the word itself is enough to draw someone else’s attention. It is such a pleasant word to hear, and to say as well. And because people have been so enchanted with this precious metal, we have used it for a number of purposes, from the gastronomic (gold leafs on pastries and cakes); to the useful (gold conductors and dental fillings); and finally to decorative (all manner of gold jewelry.) Gold is such a versatile metal. It is inherently malleable, conductive and is known to resist corrosives caused by oxidation.

As a decorative ornament, gold has become the favorite jewelry of the ancients. Sterling silver jewelry could come close at the time, as it was mostly used simply for monetary functions. Platinum and other now-presently-named precious metals are unheard of during that time. So it was gold – and only gold that the ancients favored.

Naturally, reports as to which ancient groups of people actually created the most elaborate gold jewelry are extremely biased. But you will see a lot of intricate gold jewelry making in the histories of the ancient Mayas, the ancient Egyptians, and ancient Romans, to name a few.

Along with being quite abundant at the time, gold was also notably manageable as well. This makes gold jewelry easier to mold to any form or design. During the ancient times, gold was astonishingly used for simple, practical purposes like hair clips or cloth pins.Eventually, however, gold jewelry found its way to being a mark of wealth and lavishness, as it was only allowed to those of high esteem.More and more intricate gold decorations were made during this time period, with the concept kept in mind that the more marvelous, the better. These elegant works can be found in many relics from our past. There are golden ancient golden bracelets with precious gems and there are even golden funerary masks which were made in the past.

These days, gold jewelry is still very much in demand, and the designs are still very much elaborate. With the advent of newer technology, our modern day jewelry makers can develop more intricate pieces of art. Nowadays gold jewelry is not as heavily worn, and with that, pretty much anyone can wear it.And not just for special functions too. It is so versatile that it can be worn anywhere, anytime and by mostly anyone!

Gold can even be mixed with other precious metals. It is a very stable metal. It is therefore not uncommon to see gold, platinum and silver jewelry intertwined in elaborate braids for a simple ring. It is also very common to see gold combined with sterling silver jewelry. This is because these two precious metals complement one – bright yellow with a flash of white light. On the other hand, the combination of gold and platinum jewelry is slowly gaining its audience. If you look at some of the fancier platinum or sterling silver earrings now, you will actually notice that some of them are highlighted or peppered with gold dust or slivers of gold.

Gold also matches well with gemstones and precious minerals. Cubic zirconia jewelry or CZ jewelry is often found on gold. This combination can even pass as genuine diamond jewelry. CZ rings, particularly those for wedding bands and engagement rings are usually set in gold.
