Reasonable Advice On Gas Saving

With gasoline prices going up all over the United States, this topic becomes burning hot in the country, too. Finally Americans joined the rest of the World in a desire to save some gasoline. Here are some tips from the former car engine designer that can help you to achieve best gas mileage.

- Do not stamp on gas. Acceleration consumes lots of gas. The slower you accelerate, the better your gas mileage is. On the other hand, if you accelerate too slowly, drivers following you will get mad at you. Everybody strikes his own balance on this.

- Optimize your route. The less distance you drive, the less gasoline you use. If you have to go to several places, see how you can route your trip to have the minimum number of miles driven.

- Carpool if possible. Yes, it is tiresome sometimes, but this is the unsurpassed way to save on your daily commute.

- If you drive an auto, use overdrive. If you drive a stick shift, use your gears. Your intent is to drive in the highest gear, but without taxing your engine.

- Get a credit card with five percent rebate on fuel. And use it! It is the only tip that guarantees you five percent saving.

All these tips will not turn your 15 MPG truck into a 40 MPG compact car, but they will help you to achieve best gas mileage possible in your current situation.
