Relearning The Bean Bag Game

A lot of people have played the bean bag toss in their physical education classes in elementary school when they were young. Then as they grow older they forget about the baggo game. It simply does not occur to them that they can still play the game and that there might be others who want to do the same. They see it as a kid game only, but this is far from the truth. Anyone can play the bean bag toss, which a lot of other people call the bean bag game or the Cornhole game. What the game is called depends on what part of the country a person is in, and to some extent it also depends on the size of the board. Traditionally, the tailate toss board is three feet by two feet, but some people use this size board for the Cornhole game as well, because it makes the game more portable. No matter what size board a person uses or what name they attach to it, however, playing the bean bag toss can be a lot of fun for all ages.

Young children, elderly people, and everyone in between can play the game without any real problem because the game is physically easy to play and the rules are not difficult. To play the bean bag toss, a person has only to learn some simple rules. The bags are made of a duck canvas, and they are usually filled with plastic pellets. In the past, they were filled with dried corn or dried beans, but these items tend to degrade over time when they are allowed to spend too much time out in the elements – especially if they get wet. Much-needed changes were made in order to avoid these types of problems. These bags are small and lightweight, and they are tossed toward a board which has a hole in it. This board is set at an angle, and the players stand at a specific distance from the board. They toss the bags, and the goal is to get the bean bags to go through the hole to score points.

If that cannot be done, then getting the bags to stay on the board and not fall off also scores points, but not as many. Because the bean bag toss is an easy game with simple rules and no difficult athletics, it is very popular with people of all ages. Most often it is played in western and northern parts of the country, but there are groups of bean bag players all throughout the United States. It is simply a matter of finding them. When people who like to play the bean bag toss come together, they often also organize tournaments for the players. There can be cash and prizes, or simply the joy of competition. No matter what the stakes, either at a backyard get-together or in a competitive tournament, many people enjoy playing the bean bag toss. A lot of people play it at birthday parties and other events, helping to increase its popularity.
